Yesterday, I got a call from the vice principal, which has never happened before. She said Chance was in the office for play fighting with a friend...that while both were laughing and ended it themselves there is a zero tolerance policy...what if someone got hurt after all...any kind of fighting results in suspension. She said both boys are good kids and friends so the sentence would be just for the rest of the day, which for us, was 30 minutes bc Chance has independent study PE. 😊
When I got there, my kid was in the office separated from the other boy. I'm here for that one, I said, trying to be all tough like I took this seriously. 🤔 Chance looked up remorseful and said sorry mom, but at least we were on the grass, we were being safe. 😂 I said yes, and I see you've brought some grass into the office with you, so please clean up the floor around you, and he did, every blade.
Then, the vice principal came out. She didn't have much further to say but that she has boys too and smiled and connected with Chance who said I just want to say one more time that I'm really sorry, this wont happen again. As we left, he introduced me to his friend without prompting, and the friend put out his hand to shake mine and said it's very nice to meet you, just sorry it's under these unfortunate circumstances. 😂
It was hard to keep from smiling at how good these two kids clearly are but, hey, if you're gonna fight, let it be with a friend while laughing (and on the grass for safety lol), just not right below the window of the vice principal's office. Maybe think that through a bit more first, boys, you dirty rough-housing goofball boys. 😇
