Fulfilled a promise today. Scattered Dad's ashes near his favorite spot in Del Mar. Thanks to my Husband, Jon, and Uncles Billy and Bill, for a lovely day that brought such peaceful closure. Dad didn't want another ceremony--just eternal rest Where The Surf Meets The Turf--so we kept it simple, casual and lighthearted.
We chose Sept 17th in honor of my Grammy's 95th Birthday. She (my Dad's Mom) and my Auntie Penni McDermott are together in Texas, and could not make the trip, so we wanted to include them along with my sister Mercy (working in Arizona) and Dad's wife, Natthip Satterwhite (in Phuket, Thailand) who will soon scatter her portion of the ashes as part of a 100-day merit making tradition with friends and family at Kata Beach.
Special thanks to my husband for making this day so nice and easy. Jon, you were an excellent Captain, as always, getting us as close as possible to Sea Grove Park, just as Dad requested. You even made note of the GPS coordinates, which I would never have thought to do. I don't know how you orchestrated the pod of dolphin escorts, but you just welcome that kind of chill energy out on the water, don't you? Dude, you are the best husband a girl could ever ask for, and I will love you forever.
Goodbye for now, Dad. We all love you very much. Hope you're enjoying the view. Cheers.
